Vince McMahon Writes About "Macho Man" Randy Savage In Time Magazine

The June 6, 2011 issue of TIME features an article on the late Randy Savage written by WWE chief Vince McMahon. A preview of the article was released: "It’s important in sports and it’s important in entertainment to stand out. Randy knew that. Right away, he wanted to leave his mark, and to do that he was aware he had to make himself different from everyone else. "One way he did this was concentrating on his outfits, those brightly colored costumes with foot-long fringe that became his trademark. He brought to wrestling a unique look and style. Randy, who died in a car crash May 20 at age 58, was one of the building blocks of what is now WWE (previously known as the World Wrestling Federation). He had…" To read the article in its entirety, pick up a copy of TIME at your local newsstand or download the TIME iPad app. Oh Yeah!

Shaaark! SuperBet: Sun, sea and sand, oh and look out for the SHAAARK! Watch as it chomps symbols into WILDS. This is one shark you won't want to miss. THE GAME: The game is a five-reel slot machine with a DOUBLE BONUS FEATURE to multiply your winnings. During the regular play, the goal is to achieve a winning combination of symbols on any of the selectable lines. Payouts depend on the bet per line played and the winning combination of symbols achieved. The theoretical average return to player (RTP) is 95.36% with Super Bet enabled or 93.49% (with Super Bet disabled). Malfunction voids all pays and plays. Play 1 to 25 lines. All symbols pay Left to Right except scattered FIN which pays any.

Alice's Wonderland is a 5-reel 20-line slot game. The game features a Progressive Jackpot in the Mad Hatter's Tea Party bonus round, an in-reel Rabbit Hole bonus, as well as freespins with extra wild symbols. It is also possible to win all 3 bonus features in one spin! Which makes this ASH Gaming game very popular with both new and expert slot players.

Bejeweled 2 has 20 lines of glittering reel action including 3 Bonus Games. Bonus rounds include: Free Spins Scatter, Wheel of Riches Scatter, Bejeweled Bonus Scatter. Enjoy this sequel to the classic gem-swapping puzzler and start promoting this fantastic game from Blueprint Gaming.

CryptoLogic’s Batman Slot: The Batman Slot is one of the new breed of online slots using high end technology with bonus rounds more like an actual arcade game than a traditional slot machine game. The new slot even features a bonus bet which gives the player a chance to scoop a larger jackpot.

As with most new online slots released at Virgin Bingo and indeed Virgin Casino there is also a matching new promotion. Starting today and running until 23:59 Monday 2nd May players can earn additional cash back just by playing a range of slots which of course includes the new Batman slots. The amount of cash back you receive depends on the amount you actually wager but amazingly you can earn up to £500. Virgin Games have stated that all bonuses for the promotion will be paid into players accounts on Tuesday 3rd.

Virgin Bingo Rooms

Necker Island & Marrakesh (90-ball bingo): Play traditional 90-ball bingo in a room that's as luxurious as Richard's very own tropical paradise, Necker Island, or rock the Kasbah, by playing in the bustling and colourful room, Marrakesh.

Galactic (90-ball speed bingo): It’s Bingo, Jim, but not as we know it! Play bingo at warp-speed by joining the super-fast Virgin Galactic room, where games are blasting off every two minutes.
Miami (75-ball bingo) : Grab your sunglasses and hit the beach with some 75-ball bingo action in the sunny shores of Miami.

Ulusaba (80-ball bingo): Play in Sir Richard’s very own private game reserve, Ulusaba, for some classic 80-ball bingo.

Press Release

Virgin Games Reveals Luckiest Star Signs...

Expert Astrologer, Russell Grant, Comments on Findings

In the run up to Friday 13th, online gaming company Virgin Games, has analysed a 50,000 player sample of its database to find the luckiest and unluckiest star signs when it comes to winning money.

The data showed that Aquarius, closely followed by Capricorn are the luckiest star signs, while Libra is the unluckiest. Players were defined as 'lucky' by having a winning session of more than GBP1,000.

Expert Astrologer, Russell Grant, commented on the findings: "All signs have the potential for being lucky and as the planets are constantly moving, people will move in and out of lucky phases.

That's why you should never give up if your sign falls at the bottom of the lucky/unlucky chart. For some months now Saturn has been traveling retrograde in Libra but the good news is, as from mid-June, Saturn turns direct and Librans could well start to see more good fortune in their life.
"Also in June, the lucky planet Jupiter will be entering Taurus. Taurus already seems to have had more than its fair share of luck lately and that's probably because this careful sign will have cleverly worked out gambling tactics that help them improve their gambling odds. It is interesting to see that all the more cautious Earth signs: Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo are in the top five lucky signs.

"What can the more impulsive Fire signs Leo, Aries and Sagittarius learn from this? Maybe to curb their impulsiveness, work out the odds, take calculated risks and pause and watch for the next good opportunity. However, don't hesitate for too long! Because Libra, the only Air sign at the bottom of the list has a tendency to vacillate and as the old saying goes: he who hesitates is lost. So as Librans pull themselves out of a more restrictive Saturn phase, they should take a leaf out of their Aquarian friends' books and let their motto be: He who dares, wins!"

Simon Burridge, CEO of Virgin Games, commented: "As Friday 13th hits us, we thought it would be a good idea to look at the fortune of our customers and to try and understand whether certain star signs are luckier than others. Of course, this is just a bit of fun, but I may steer clear from letting a Libran deal with my money on this inauspicious day!"

From luckiest to unluckiest, the findings of Virgin Games' data was as follows:

1. Aquarius
2. Capricorn
3. Taurus
4. Gemini
5. Virgo
6. Cancer
7. Leo
8. Aries
9. Pisces
10. Scorpio
11. Sagittarius
12. Libra

Russell Grant will be hosting a live web chat with Virgin Bingo customers on Friday 13th May from 8pm-9pm in the Hidden Treasure Room. Russell will also be giving away five signed copies of his latest book, Russell Grant's Sun Sign Book. To join Russell go to Virgin Games Founded in 2004.

Virgin Games has over 1,000,000 players and over 250 games on its site. Through the introduction of a custom built Virgin Games platform in 2008, Virgin Games seeks to provide its players with the widest possible choice of casino games. A growing selection of games can be found at Virgin Games from a number of producers including Microgaming, IGT, Cryptologic, Freemantle, Ash Gaming and Mazooma Interactive Games.

Australian Sports Betting Worries Sport Bosses, by Greg Tingle - 20th May 2011

The sports betting sector continues to be red hot political and legal potato in Australia, and it has many a sports boss worried, as well as administrators of Australia's Olympic body, with Aussie Olympic athletes being red the riot act. Media Man and Gambling911 get you up to speed with the latest in the Australian sports betting industry, which is already having international consequences...

Aussie Sports Bosses Worried About Sports Betting...

Think you know all there is about the politics and proposed laws re sports betting in Australia? Think again.

The money men - the top brass behind the elite sports codes in Australia just yesterday expressed their unease at the full on advertising delivered by enthusiastic promoter types in the betting agencies.

The money stream for the sporting codes has been a financial shot in the arm for pro sports, but many now question at what cost.

Most advertising budgets in Australia have slowed over the last few years, but not sorts betting, a close cousin to gambling.

Live betting - exotic betting - are the forms of sports betting which have the majority of sports code bosses very worried, and we all know there's been a few scandals with the "exotics", and we're not talking about casino babes or sports babes folks.

The prestigious Tattersall's CEO's Sports Luncheon was held yesterday with reps from the AFL, NRL, ARU, FFA and Cricket Australia going on record that they felt somewhat uneasy with the tactics being employed by gambling firms, despite the big bucks they made from the association with sports betting.

"I think I speak for all of us when I say some of that more aggressive 'bet now' advertising is concerning us," NRL boss David Gallop said. "We would prefer to see that in a less aggressive mode. But it's difficult when the media outlets are going to take that advertising anyway, so the sports need to be in control of it."

After demonstrating initial caution, the Australian Football League has embraced the gambling universe, even permitting teams to accept gambling organisations as jersey, sports and internet sports sponsors, as plugging live odds on the AFL website during matches and showing live match odds on the scoreboard during games as part of an agreement with Betfair.

AFL chief exec Andrew Demetriou said it was issue beyond sport. "If it's in your face at the football, it can be really off-putting," he said. "But let's not delude ourselves; don't just concentrate this on the sports. The newspapers are littered with advertising about sports betting. Let's look at issues across the board, not just in sport. We're genuinely trying to do the right thing. Once sports betting became deregulated … everyone became exposed to it, not just kids at the football."

Australian Rugby Union top dog John O'Neill stated the massive money being thrown around by gambling firms had inevitably bought them a slice of power.

"We certainly do express a view if it's in your face, it's over the top. But that's the level of influence [they now have]," he said. "There is a source of revenue there." Assurances that all professional sporting events are not tampered with by bookmakers - or that players, coaches or officials are not betting on outcomes - has added another layer to the complex relationship between sports and agencies.

Cricket Australia exec James Sutherland advised all sports had to retain their integrity to survive.

"The critical issue for us is that the success of sport is built on the connection between the fan and the sport. They need to know this is a real contest, this is the real thing," he said. "If there is any question or taint around that then the integrity and value of the sport is significantly downgraded. That's something we're very conscious of. We can't have corruption in our game."

Federal Sports Minister Mark Arbib has expressed his support for tougher match-fixing laws, and is due to meet his state counterparts next month.

Just when all the confusion will come to an end is anyone's bet.

Gambling continues to be one of the world's most successful industries and most popular pastimes, and Aussie gamblers - sports betters are some of the most popular in the world.

With the Aussie news media and internet push on it seems unlikely that sports betting offline or online are going to decline in popularity any time soon. All gambling sub sectors are generally on the increase with the public, and now it just seems that all regulations across the board need to get up to speed with the reality of internet sports betting. You can bet legal eagles will continue to be busy and media reports will continue to be pumped out, keeping punters, politicians and all other interested parties abreast of the latest news. What else is left to say than good punting, and bet with your head, not over it.

Australian Olympic Committee Says Illegal Sports Betting Biggest Risk...

Aussie Olympic athletes set to head off the Olympic Games in London next year will be required to obey new laws designed to stop illegal betting.

The Australian Olympic Committee annual general meeting was held yesterday.

Plenty of top brass was present including AOC president John Coates and the Federal Minister for Sport Mark Arbib. They are so worried they rate illegal betting as big a risk as doping in the 1980s and 1990s.

Coates wants a national sports betting authority independent of any sport and their official bodies and handed federal powers and resources.

In a curious tactic, the AOC's 2012 team membership agreement has also been tweaked to limit the prospect of a selected Aussie athlete betting on themselves or anyone else during the Games in London.

Coates is happy to punish offenders by "naming and shaming" them. Arbib said he supported a prop for jail sentences of up to a decade for anyone found guilty.

The illegal betting industry, Arbib said, is worth roughly $140 billion a year, and has now spread like wildfire globally. He thinks that the battle to combat illegal betting will need the co operation of governments, sporting federations and legal betting agencies if it is to be won.

Coates said that athletes who still did not fully comprehend what was at stake would certainly do so by the time they had put on their green and gold team colours and were on a flight to London. He advised athletes will all be fully briefed before the Games, and the changed clauses in their agreements will be outlined. "In our team membership agreements, we have always had clauses in there that prohibited involvement by our team members in betting on Olympic Games, on other athletes or themselves," Coates said after the meeting. "We are just making [it] more specific."

"We have added the references to prohibition to illegal and irregular gambling betting to our ethical behaviour by-laws … that will be in place, the athletes will be briefed on it. It will be made very clear to them that we will not tolerate any betting during the Olympic Games."

Coates also advised that punishment for an infraction would not only come from the AOC.
Senator Arbib didn't shy away from outlining how strong a stand he plans on taking.

"The NSW Law Reform Commission have talked about penalties for up to 10 years for match fixing. That is something I support," he said.

"This is a very serious crime and there are large sums of money involved internationally.
''We need to send a strong message to those people who are involved in match fixing [and] those people involved in illegal gambling that government will act.

"We will act together with the sports and the betting agencies and we are going to take the toughest stance possible."

Coates went thought a 7-point mandate for the national sports betting authority. He's hopeful that Prime Minister Julia Gillard will endorse it and see it become a reality.

Investigate cheating and fraudulent conduct with necessary powers to phone tap, subpoena and seize information and exemption from privacy legislation.

Undertake effective national liaison and information sharing with the Australian Federal Police, Australia Tax Office and other federal agencies, and the State and Territory police.

Undertake effective international liaison and information sharing with other governments, international sports bodies and agencies.

Establish a comprehensive code of conduct for all sporting bodies.

Establish guidelines for minimum and consistent penalties across sports at all levels and the means to ensure they are applied.

Record the names of offending athletes, officials, clubs and third parties of ill-repute on a public register, and undertake education of coaches and officials.

Folks, with list or will it come to pass and become written in law? Tipsters advise we may know in the coming weeks, and no, we are not taking bets on it before you ask, but feel free to check out other gaming and betting promotions right here.

Punters, er readers, stay glued to Media Man reports via Gambling911 for more "can't miss" information on Australian sports betting, pokies, gaming and casino wars.

Jesse “The Body” Ventura On Bin Laden, 9/11 and more, by Greg Tingle - 18th May 2011

Jesse Ventura and Arnold Schwarzenegger

The man is no stranger to controversy. Media Man, newsrooms around the world... from Bondi Beach to New York...Mexico, the Wrestling News Media outfit and friends have followed his exploits in and out of the wrestling ring and political arena for decades. Many call him a living legend and a true American hero. Meet Jesse 'The Body' Ventura, aka 'The Mind'.

It's been suggested that the last thing Osama Bin Laden saw was what Jesse Ventura used to be...one of the Navy Seals from the U.S.

Navy Seals by default need to be able to fight, having got some of the best hand-to-hand combat available in the United States we understand.

How would have Ventura faired in a real fight about a Brock Lesner, Dan Severn, Frank Mir or even Kurt Angle? We will never know, but leaks say Ventura was and is one hell of a tough S.O.B.

Ventura is not only a former Navy Seal, officially known as a Naval Underwater Demolitions team (UDT) member , the precursor to the "Seals".

It would be been interesting to see Ventura fight MMA - UFC - no holds barred style in his prime. In the pro wrestling with his time at AWA and the old WWF, it seemed apparent he was a tough dude, but his style of pro wrestling made it difficult to see just how tough he may have been for real. How about his wrestling exploits with Rowdy Roddy Piper, Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Hulk Hogan, the late Adrian Adonis and WWE head honcho, Vince McMahon - the stuff of wrestling folk law.

It's hard not to dig Ventura's real life rock n roll wrestling connection, being a former bodyguard for The Rolling Stones, pro wrestling champion, ex-Governor Of Minnesota, TV talk show host and now, he’s a well-respected and best selling author with some extremely controversial things to say about the U.S government.

If you haven't done so already, grab yourself a copy of his latest book '63 Documents the Government Doesn't Want You to Read'. He gives his take on what he believes really happened before, during and after 9/11.

It's hard not to dig Ventura's movies like 'The Running Man' and who can forget 'Predator', where he played opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The world awaits to see if Ventura will run for President, perhaps with Schwarzenegger as Vice... no, not that sort of vice friends. For a while it looked like Donald 'The Don' Trump was heading for that big white office in Washington, only just deciding to opt out of the presidential race.

Of course, Ventura might like to just jump back into corporate sports endorsements and the like, ala WWE, UFC and maybe even a bit of gaming and sports betting.

A few things are for sure. He will keep 'em guessing and we'll be hearing lots more from one of America's most powerful pens and voices.

Australian Casino King James Packer Lobbies Re Pokies, by Greg Tingle - 16th May 2011

Aussie casino and lifestyle king of the kids, James Packer, has been doing a bit of lobbying key people associated with Australian pokies reforms Media Man has learned.

Packer has raised concerns over the impact reforms may have on Australian land based casinos.

Anti pokie campaigner and all round poster child, MP Andrew Wilkie confirmed he met Packer at Crown Casino on March 20 and had spoken with him by phone a number of times, but played down the significance.

"Just about every heavyweight involved in the debate has spoken with me, or me with them, by now".

Packer hasn't commented to the press re his meeting with Wilkie as best as reporters can ascertain.

Wilkie has been busy meeting members of the crossbench while Packer is of course busy taking care of business...and family matters.

Marvel Entertainment smashing movie records, by Greg Tingle - 15th May 2011

Movie fans and insiders... did you know that first weekend in May is when Hollywood’s big money time commences. After months of pretty average flicks at the box office, studios start dreaming of $100 million dollar weekend paydays from May through to August. Marvel Entertainment, based on the foundations of Marvel Comics, has smashed it's way in this movie season headed up by legendary Thor.

This year’s Marvel entry is Thor, starring relative newcomer Chris Hemsworth, a likable Aussie actor, and Oscar-winner Natalie Portman. Experts tip Marvel Entertainment may be in for its biggest film season ever.

In 6 of the past 9 years, Marvel Studios has kicked off the box office money making season with a comic book blockbuster. Here's the proof movie fans and insiders...

Year Film Opening Weekend

2002 “Spider-Man” $114 million

2003 “X2: X-Men United” $85 million

2007 “Spider-Man 3″ $151 million

2008 “Iron Man” $98 million

2009 “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” $85 million

2010 “Iron Man 2″ $128 million

When other studios attempt to take that first weekend in May slot, they don’t do nearly as well. “Van Helsing” (2004, $51 mill), “Kingdom of Heaven” (2005, $19 mill), and “Mission Impossible III” (2006, $47 mill) all sluggish compared to the opening weekends of the Marvel comics franchise.

Marvel’s comic books usually come with built-in name recognition and an established audience of fanboys lining up to see them. Marvel has so many comic book entities that it can cement its future re the first weekend of May for years in advance. For example, “Iron Man 3″ is already slated for release on May 3 of 2013, even though the script isn’t even done yet. That's planning for you.

With a budget of roughly $150 mil, and Marvel’s history of May movies making close to $100 million their opening weekends, you’d think expectations would be massive for “Thor.” But “Thor’s” box office prospects aren’t up to typical comic book standards.

“Its not one of the better known comic-book properties,” says Box Office Guru's Gitesh Pandya. "I don’t think it will come close to the Spider-man or Iron Man numbers. If it gets to $70 million or even the high $60 millions, it would be a very good opening."

“Thor’s” primary audience is the typical comic book/action crowd of young males. But Pandya thinks “Thor” may be able to lure in the ladies also. Co-star Natalie Portman is a hot property coming off her Oscar for “Black Swan.” “And they made sure to let everyone know that Chris Hemsworth takes his shirt off in some scenes,” says Pandya. “That’s got to help with the ladies.”

“Thor” has gotten almost all good reviews, though the comic book/action crowd tends to largely ignore reviews when deciding where to spend their movie money.

Working against “Thor” is a high amount of competition. This year, “Fast Five” reved along by opening to surprisingly strong business ($86 million). Analysts expect “Fast Five” to make around another $35 million in the next week or two. Most of those dollars will likely come from punters who would otherwise be buying tickets to “Thor.”

“Thor’s” other problem is its setting and tone, geared for a pretty smart audience. The story and the characters feel like something out of Shakespeare, which may be why Kenneth Branagh was chosen to direct the film. Much of the film takes place off Earth, on planets of gods and giants. “It’s a different kind of superhero film,” says Pandya. “It’s more cerebral than Iron Man, Hulk, or X-men. I wonder if teenaged kids will get all the mythological references here.”

So, can this $150 million film with an equally large marketing budget make money if it only makes $65 – $70 million in ticket sales its opening weekend? Pandya says not to worry. "Thor is a more European character. He’s better known there than he is here. Lots of comic book movies skew so American that they don’t play well overseas. “Thor” should be the opposite."

That could well be the reason Paramount Pictures decided to open “Thor” overseas before its American debut. It launched in many markets first, such as Australia, and has already made more than $125 million internationally.

And, for Marvel, “Thor” is just one weapon in its arsenal. After “Thor’s” credits finish rolling, there is a bonus scene designed to help set the stage for Marvel’s most ambitious movie project yet… “The Avengers”...a movie featuring Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, and other comic book heroes. “The Avengers” film will be also released in 2012. It debuts the first weekend of May.

In addition to films, Marvel also has plans for slot games, action figures, lunch boxes, t-shirts and a whole host of other Marvel super hero gear.

A Media Man insider said "The Marvel Entertainment movies are just the tip of the iceberg. There's the slot games, video games, shirts, DVDs, action figures and a whole lot more. Investors and fans should be very happy with what's in store this season".

As Marvel Entertainment icon Stan Lee would say, Excelsior!

Wrestling News Media: The Rock VS John Cena At WWE WrestleMania, by Greg Tingle

The Rock's return to pro wrestling er... sports entertainment, or whatever it is now, has little to do with wrestling as such.

The booking The Rock vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 28 twelve months in advance has strong merit, but will both competitors be as hot then, as they are now... probably.

This is one of the smartest moves ever by WWE head honcho Vince McMahon, as it plugs right back into mainstream entertainment, with a hot main event which has star power and money written all over it, plus news media is going to have it as a media darling to boot. I don't see Rock or Cena "stuffing up" with real life situations that would stop the match, and hopefully both will remain injury free.

What's were doing here is getting Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the living legend himself, and putting him in the squared circles with one of the most popular pre-teen megastars ever. This is the pop culture main event of the decade, if not century!

Wrestling fans will go for this big, and spend, plus it should be a decent match to keep the loyal fan base happy too. Most mainstream news media companies should cover it also, and the buzz and coverage leading up is already there, so just imagine. Bigger than the MTV Hulk Hogan VS "Rowdy" Roddy Piper 'War To Settle The Score', Andre The Giant at WrestleMania III, and perhaps even up there with the very first WrestleMania back in 1985 which came from sports and entertainment mecca in New York - Madison Square Garden.

The Rock VS John Cena at WrestleMania is tipped to break all sorts of records and have mega success written all over it. At The Rock would say, Just Bring It!

The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas Kick Off New Alliance With IHG

The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas Kick Off New Alliance With IHG in Unexpected and Extraordinary Ways and Welcomes "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to Celebrate

Ellen DeGeneres Welcomes Guests and Serves as "Celebrity Concierge" For The Day

ATLANTA, May 4, 2011 - The Ellen DeGeneres Show today helps IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) and Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) celebrate the launch of The Venetian and The Palazzo as the first-ever InterContinental Alliance Resorts. To commemorate this fitting partnership and encourage consumers to start taking advantage of the extraordinary benefits of the alliance, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres welcomed the 'first' InterContinental Alliance Resort guests by serving as celebrity concierge for the day.

The humorous segment airs on The "Ellen DeGeneres Show" Wednesday, May 4th, and will show viewers just how easy it is to start earning and burning IHG's Priority Club points at The Venetian and The Palazzo and global hotel destinations beyond the Las Vegas Strip. As "Celebrity Concierge," DeGeneres welcomed four lucky bachelorettes to check into the newly formed InterContinental Alliance Resorts, and showed them the access and benefits they receive at The Venetian and The Palazzo just by simply being a member of Priority Club Rewards, IHG's guest loyalty program. Ellen gives the bachelorettes the VIP treatment with drinks and dancing by the pool, a relaxing gondola ride and even hit the slot machines. Guests in Vegas were not the only ones to be part of the action; Ellen also surprised the entire studio audience of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" with a complimentary two-night stay at either The Venetian or The Palazzo.

As InterContinental Alliance Resorts, The Venetian and The Palazzo are now affiliated with the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts global portfolio. They will maintain their brand identity, yet are established as InterContinental Alliance Resorts on property and via various marketing channels, including www.intercontinental.com, where guests can book a suite at The Venetian or The Palazzo, just like they would any other InterContinental Hotel or Resort. The resorts, both of which have earned the AAA Five Diamond rating and a four-star rating from Forbes, are the perfect fit for the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand and provide the "in the know" experience that InterContinental guests have come to expect.

"Our guests earn a significant amount of Priority Club points when they're staying at our hotels for business travel," said Eric Pearson, chief marketing officer, the Americas, IHG. Overwhelmingly, they want to redeem those points for a fun and relaxing vacation, and now with InterContinental Alliance Resorts we can offer two-award winning flagship resorts in one of the world's most dynamic destinations."

This new alliance brings together two world-class leaders in the global hospitality industry. It also offers extraordinary benefits to both guests at The Venetian and The Palazzo and to members of IHG's Priority Club Rewards program, the world's largest hotel loyalty program with 56 million members.

"Our guests will now be able to earn points and redeem them for stays at any of IHG's various hotels worldwide, just as Priority Club Rewards and Ambassador Members will be able to use their own points for stays at both of our world-class resort properties. In addition, Venetian and Palazzo guests can also earn Priority Club points on top of our Grazie loyalty program points," said Rom Hendler, chief marketing officer, Las Vegas Sands Corp. "IHG customers will be able to experience the same Five Diamond Award winning service that Venetian and Palazzo visitors have always received. This is an exciting opportunity for all!"

To celebrate this new alliance, from now through the end of the year, consumers also have the opportunity to win an unexpected and extraordinary experience through a unique sweepstakes called "Unexpected. Extraordinary. Yours for the taking!" Each consumer who enters the online sweepstakes at www.ihg.com/lasvegas will be entered into a drawing for their chance to win an extraordinary giveaway each month.

Each monthly prize will include a two-night getaway in the Penthouse Suite at either The Venetian or The Palazzo, airfare to Las Vegas and VIP treatment, plus another extraordinary prize valued between $5,000 and $10,000 to experience in Las Vegas. The prizes will vary each month and include, but are not limited to, the chance to party like a celebrity at Tao and Lavo; private luxury box for four at Lagasse's Stadium(SM) during baseball's Fall Classic; and a culinary experience, featuring some of the award-winning restaurants on-site, including Postrio, CUT, Morels, Pinot Brasserie and Valentino. A full list of prizes can be found at www.ihg.com/lasvegas along with the rules for the sweepstakes which is being carried out by IHG.

TV Week Logies: Underbelly Dirani Wins Logies; Dieter Brummer Crown Casino Assault, by Greg Tingle - 2nd May 2011

This years Underbelly was both a big winner and loser at the TV Week Logies. James Packer's Crown Casino was rocking and rolling, before, during and after The Logies. Australia's night of nights - the TV Week Logie Awards hit James Packer's Crown Casino with a vengeance. Good thing that security was on high alert for The Palladium and JJ's parts of the casino. We are also pleased to report that there was no repeat of last years Twitter-Gate, where one writer was fired for inappropriate Tweets. Plastic handcuffs were not required as far as we can muster, but there was at least one arrest...of an Underbelly star. Media Man with the Crown Casino - Underbelly special live from Crown. Greg Tingle flew down to Melbourne to cover both TV and real life underbelly, learning that life still does sometimes imitate art even in Australian Underbelly...

Underbelly: AussieWood and Real Life Big Hits At TV Week Logies...

Life appears to have imitated art at James Packer's Crown Casino in the early hours of this morning when Underbelly actor Dieter Brummer allegedly became involved in an "incident" with up to five security guards.

Victorian police were called to the Crown Casino complex and the 34-year-old bloke from North Bondi was charged with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault, behaving in a riotous manner and being drunk in a public place. Yes, quite a list.

Crown spokesman Gary O'Neill told the Herald that CCTV footage and a security report was being handed over to police.

O'Neill said he had seen the footage, which he claimed indicated Crown's security guards had "followed the appropriate procedures for dealing with these situations".

He politely declined to comment any further, but shared "People see these things differently, it is now up to the police to do their work."

Following the Logie awards, Brummer was having a drink or five at the JJs Bar inside the Crown Complex, which each year is the venue for the Network Nine afterparty. Channel Nine is the broadcast partner of the Logies.

The Underbelly hit show, which showcases the underworld down under in Australia and has been watched by millions of Aussies, has been one of the network's biggest hits and received plenty of Logies this year.

Brummer and other stars of the show, including Firas Dirani were in a party state of mind throughout the evening.

Reports have come to light that Brummer was asked to leave the Nine party, although this has not been proven at the time we go to press.

Witnesses told the press they saw Brummer being pinned to the carpet outside JJs Bar and heard him screaming at the five guards to "get off me".

Some observers were also seen filming the alleged incident on their mobile phone cameras.

The man was taken from Crown Casino at 2.25am to nearby Prahran police station to be charged.

He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court on August 29.

Life can imitate art, for better or worse.

Underbelly's Firass Dirani Kicks Ass At Logies...

For Underbelly: The Golden Mile’s leading man Firass Dirani there was reasons for trifecta celebration after snatching the Most Popular New Male Talent and Graham Kennedy Award For Most Outstanding New Talent Awards, as well as bringing in his 27th birthday, which was on Friday. And in a most entertaining acceptance speech thanked 'Teenage Dream' queen Katy Perry.

Kings Cross based set drama series Underbelly: The Golden Mile was awarded the TV Week Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Drama Series, Miniseries or Telemovie.

The night's first winner Firass Dirani, who was voted the most popular newcomer for his performance in Underbelly: The Golden Mile, begged American pop chanteuse Katy Perry to have his babies before thanking the show's producers "for taking a chance and injecting some flair and some of that caramel flavour into our TV screens".

Insiders say the "caramel flavour" was a reference to the multi cultural thing, given that Durani is not a Caucasian "white" Australian.

Tipsters are confident Underbelly will continue for "one or two years more", with more gambling themes to be incorporated into the smash hit franchise.

Punters, er readers, stay glued to Media Man reports for more "can't miss" information on the Australian casino scene.

Logies 2011 tipped to be the best, by Greg Tingle - 1st May 2011

Performing artist Katy Perry has promised a Logies explosive firework opening to the Logies.

Perry is performing here at Crown Casino, Melbourne, tonight at the Logies, and says it'll be quite different to her usual performance.

"I'm very excited because I get to sing one of my favourite songs tomorrow, and I get to do it in a completely different way that I've never done it.

"I love that new, exciting challenge."

The American pop culture icon disclosed she's a big fan of Chris Lilley's Logie-award winning mockumentary series Summer Heights High.

"Summer Heights High and Ja'mie is my favourite," she said, having a go at the the character's accent.

"I love her. Obviously I'm a big fan of all those characters.

"And Kath and Kim I love.

"Australian television is ace."

Perry is down under for her sold-out California Dreams tour, is the big-name international drawcard for the TV Week Logies.

UK pop singer Jessie J and US Grammy winners Maroon 5 will also hit the stage at the Logies.

Violinist Andre Rieu is also scheduled to make an appearance and there's been rumours all week of Justin Bieber showing.

More glamorous than ever before

The Logies will have extra glamour this year, with the stars set to walk the longest red carpet in the event's history.

Logies organisers have extended the ruby rug at Crown Casino by 80m.

"It is more spacious, more grand and will be more glamorous," event organiser David Grant said.

International stars such as Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and red-hot British singer Jesse J have arrived in Melbourne for tonight's event.

All will walk the red carpet, as will violin maestro Andre Rieu, who is understood to have just hit Melbourne. Rieu also will be a presenter for part of on the evening.

Rebecca Judd, understood to be expecting her first baby early in August, will show off her tummy on the Logies' red carpet, in designer fashion of course.

She will be a commentator on Network 9's Logies fashion special and will attend the gala event as a guest of the station. She will wear a gown by Perth-based designer Aurelio Costarella that has been tweaked to flatter and celebrate her six-month pregnant state.

"My gown is very accommodating for my bump," Judd said.

"Aurelio had some options for me and the one I have chosen is great.

"It really works with the bump there is a lot of draping and so forth on it."

Judd shared that she was revelling in her pregnancy while keeping busy. "The bump is getting really big," she said. "I have been feeling amazing."

"I will be having a quiet night," she said. "All of these after-parties sound fun, but they will have to wait until next year."

Rebecca Gibney is favourite to take home the coveted Gold Logie.

Stay tuned as we bring you the action from Crown Casino.
